Can we talk about using a seam roller on every seam?

I used to roll every single seam twice until I saw a guy with 30 years in the trade skip it on a tight glue-down job last spring. He said it flattens the nap too much on dense carpet and leaves a visible line after a few months. Has anyone else noticed that problem with high-loop berber?

I used to be a roller-for-every-seam guy until I watched a shop foreman skip it on a textured nylon job and the seam looked better than mine at six months. That made me reconsider rolling anything with a high pile.

Maybe next time I'll just glare at the seam until it behaves.
