My sourdough starter finally doubled in size after I stopped rinsing my jar with hot water every feed
Switched to just wiping it out with a dry paper towel and now it's thriving, has anyone else found that temperature shocks mess with their starter more than they expected?

Honestly I never even thought about temperature shocks like that. I just assumed hot water was fine because it's what my grandma always did. But now that you mention it, I switched to using room temp water for my starter a few weeks ago and it's been way more active. Tbh I think I was basically scalding the poor thing every time I fed it. Ngl I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't figure that out sooner. The paper towel trick sounds smart too, I might try that next feed.
