TIL a client offered me cookies to ignore a squirrel nest in a pine tree

Honestly, I was supposed to remove the tree, but a big nest was right in my way. Tbh, the squirrels were active, and I didn't want to disturb them during baby season. Ngl, the client kept saying the cookies were homemade and it would be fine, but I felt bad. I ended up delaying the job and explaining why, but it was a weird talk.

Yeah, I ran into a nest of baby robins last spring during a gutter clean. Just told the homeowner we had to pause for a few weeks until they fledged. They grumbled about the delay, so I took a picture of the nest to show them why. Sometimes seeing it makes it real for them.

Hearing about the homeowner grumbling just shocks me. Baby robins are totally helpless in that nest. Like, they can't even fly yet and would definitely die if you messed with it. Putting off a gutter clean for a few weeks is no big deal compared to that. Having to show a picture to make them understand is wild because it should be common sense. Some folks really don't care until they see the tiny birds with their own eyes.
