Air fryer heating element burns are way more common than people admit
I was scrolling through some FDA injury reports last night for a project, and I saw that air fryers caused over 1,200 reported burns in 2023 alone. That number shocked me because I always thought they were pretty safe. Most of those burns happened when people reached inside right after cooking and hit the top heating element. I have actually done that myself twice now, once on my arm and once on my hand. It left a nasty mark that took weeks to fade. Why don't any of the manuals warn you about this more clearly? Has anyone else here gotten burned from reaching in too fast?

I burned my forearm about a month ago on my Cosori. Reached in to grab a basket of fries and my arm brushed that top coil. It left a stripe burn that took three weeks to heal. My trick now is to unplug the thing before I even open the door. That stupid red glow disappears fast and it forces me to wait those extra few seconds.

Same thing happened to me, now I always wait for the coil to cool off first.
