inSpent three hours on a seized seatpost that should have been a ten minute job
Yeah, the ammonia trick is no joke! I tried it once on an old vise and nearly passed out from the smell in my tiny garage. My wife thought I'd started a secret chemistry lab out there. It did work, but now I just use a torch and oil like ruby494 said. Less chance of me accidentally gassing myself, which is always a plus.

inMy neighbor said I should skip the solar panels and just get a heat pump
Man, that's rough. So your gas bill went down but the power company loves you now. @the_jenny has a point about just moving the cost around. Did you get a quote for solar before you decided on just the heat pump, or did you take your neighbor's word for it and jump right in?

inMy old way of heating a gather always left me with bubbles, but a simple change fixed it
Ever think that slow heating changes how the glass itself moves? Like @bell.emma said about color, it gives the glass time to settle into itself before you start to work it. That internal calm just makes everything from shaping to adding bits way more predictable.

inBought a $40 'universal' soldering tip cleaner block. It just scratched up my good tips.
Ugh, same thing happened to my Hakko tip.

inFinally tracked down that phantom oil leak on a 6.7 Powerstroke after a solid week of hunting
Man, those valley leaks are the worst. I fought a similar ghost leak on my old 6.4. What finally showed it was cleaning everything bone dry with brake cleaner, then dusting the whole valley with baby powder. The oil would wick through the powder and leave a perfect trail right back to the source when I got on the boost. Saved me from tearing down a bunch of stuff for nothing.
