inJust hit 500 hours on my new Kirby helmet and it feels different than I thought it would.

Actually, that paper tape story gets repeated a lot but it's a bit of a myth! The word "patch" for fixing problems was used in other fields way before computers. It's a neat idea, but the real history is more about the general idea of mending something broken, not just tape over holes. The computer use just borrowed an old, useful word.

That only works if your boss is reasonable. Some bosses will find a new thing to breathe down your neck about the second you finish the obvious task. It just shows them you're available for more micromanaging. Better to sometimes pace the obvious stuff so you always look busy.
