inAppreciation post: The old iron fence around the courthouse in Greenville is a masterclass in sand casting.
That iron fence on Maple Street has been rusting for years. I get the detail is nice, but calling it art feels like a stretch. Most of those old pieces were just copied from a catalog. The sharp edges you see probably came from a factory mold, not some blacksmith's careful work. It's cool to look at, but let's not pretend every old fence is a hidden masterpiece.

inJust realized I've been wasting pages in my bullet journal for months
Just glue in some photos or ticket stubs to fill it.

inI used to think the 'three episode rule' was a good idea, but now I think it's wrong
Honestly I just check the staff list now. If a director or writer I trust is on it, I'll give it more time. If it's all new people, I'm out after one bad episode.

inFinally bit the bullet on a good borescope
That "paid for the tool" feeling is real. Buddy of mine is a home inspector. He was checking a crawlspace, standard stuff. His cheap scope died, so he borrowed my good one. Poked it up behind a shower wall from the basement. Found a slow leak from the drain pipe that had been rotting the floor joist for years. Seller had to fix it, buyer dodged a nightmare. That scope found a ten thousand dollar problem in two minutes.

inAppreciation post: The day a storm made me rethink every tree I've ever climbed
My cousin in Ohio had a neighbor who said no to a simple roof check. Three months later, a whole section collapsed under wet snow. @the_abby is right, it only takes one bad surprise to make you push for that look every time.
