Just overheard a guy at the store say he never preheats his air fryer

Let the chaos begin. Air fryer anarchy in aisle five.

I was super skeptical about using diatomaceous earth for mites... until I actually saw it work

Hold up, I gotta push back on this a little. DE is basically just ground up fossils, right? I tried it once on my birds and it did nothing but make a huge dusty mess. I think people see a little improvement and credit the DE when maybe the mites just ran their cycle or the birds got healthier on their own. Plus, if you're dealing with a real infestation, DE can actually irritate their respiratory systems since chickens have such sensitive lungs. I had a vet tell me straight up that DE is more of a feel-good fix than a real treatment. If you really want to be sure, I'd rather just use a proper permethrin spray and be done with it. But hey, whatever works for your flock, I guess.

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his lizard was a better password manager than LastPass

drew805 you gotta stop leaving me alone with these lizard password conversations because now I'm overthinking it. What actually worked for me was getting one of those little keychain flash drives that looks like a tiny hot dog. Nobody wants to steal a fake hot dog and worst case scenario Frank takes a nap on it. My buddy had a gecko that kept staring at his laptop screen and we just assumed the lizard was plotting something. So now my passwords are on a fake hot dog and Frank can blink however he wants. It's dumb but nobody has hacked me yet so I'll take it.

That guy at the bike co-op told me I was cleaning my chain totally backwards

Come on, man, you're just swapping one problem for another. Wiping a dry rag over a dirty chain just grinds that existing grit deeper into the rollers and pins, especially if you've got any leftover degreaser residue. A drop of lube on each roller ends up pooling in the jockey wheels or just gets flung off immediately, so you're wasting half the bottle. The "less is more" crowd always forgets that a deep clean with degreaser every few hundred miles actually prevents that black paste from forming in the first place. Your cassette might look cleaner because you're basically just smearing around the grime instead of removing it, (if you know what I mean). I'd rather spend ten minutes every other week doing a proper strip than two minutes every day pretending my chain is getting any real lubrication.

Compared a wired panel against a wireless one on a big house last week

Used to think wireless was the way to go for everything, but after helping my brother wire his 1920s house last summer, I see exactly what your cousin means. The static reliability of a hardwired panel is hard to beat, especially in older construction where signals just bounce around funny.
