Appreciation post: I thought comments in code were a waste of time until I looked at my own project from 6 months ago

Right? What kind of genius wrote this code... oh, it was me. I left a function called "fixEverything" with zero notes and spent an hour just trying to figure out what it was even supposed to fix.

Showerthought: My friend said 'just take it to the shop' about a flat tire

Man, that attitude drives me nuts. It's like we've forgotten how to do anything with our hands anymore. I get it if you're in a rush or really don't know how, but a flat tire is the perfect place to start learning. You end up paying way more for the labor than the part itself, and then you're still helpless if it happens again miles from a shop. That simple fix builds confidence for other stuff, too, like adjusting your brakes or cleaning your chain.

Pro tip: A local in Prague called my 'budget' strategy a waste of money

Depends on the trip honestly. Sometimes that hour on the tram is part of the fun, just watching the city go by. Not every minute has to be a hyper efficient tourist checkmark. If you are only there for two days, sure, stay central. But for a longer trip, a quiet neighborhood can be a nice break from the crowds. Calling it a total waste seems a bit much.

My old steel frame had a crack, and I had to choose between a full repair or a new bike.

Metal fatigue is a real thing, but it's not a given. A good frame builder can check the whole frame. Some of these old frames were built to last forever anyway.
