I always thought meditation guides were for beginners only
I used to believe that once you know how to meditate, you don't need guides anymore. But then I hit a rough patch at work and my usual practice wasn't helping. On a whim, I tried a guided session for stress relief. It walked me through breathing in a way I'd forgotten, and it actually calmed me down. Now I see guides as tools you can come back to anytime, not just starting out.

Heard a podcast where seasoned meditators still USE guides to refresh their routine.

Actually, calling guides just for beginners is a pretty common misunderstanding. They are more like having a good set of tools for different jobs, not just the first one. Like @charles510 heard, even people who have done this for years use them to mix things up. When your own thoughts are too loud, a guide gives you something else to focus on, which can really help reset your whole session. It's less about not knowing how and more about needing a different voice to follow sometimes. What kind of guided sessions do you go back to most often?

Got into meditation years ago and figured I was past guides too. Then during a really stressful move, my mind was all over the place. I pulled up an old guided session on focusing, and it just clicked. Now I keep a few saved for when my own practice feels stuck, and it always helps reset things. It's like having a coach you can call up anytime, not just for training.
