Spent $40 on a parking meter that kept resetting to zero minutes

I put in enough for an hour on Main Street, came back in 20 minutes, and the screen showed my time was up with a fresh ticket on my windshield. The meter person said it happens sometimes with that specific spot. Has anyone else seen a machine just eat money like that?

That's a total SCAM, the city should refund you.

Last year I paid $75 for a parking ticket when the meter was clearly broken. @jana_hill27 is right, it feels like a scam designed to catch people who are already running late. I was so mad I took a picture of the meter and everything, but fighting it took more time than it was worth. The city just counts on folks being too busy to argue. They absolutely should refund people for their own faulty equipment. It's just a lazy way to collect extra money.
