I was deciding between waiting for a curb alert or messaging immediately on a free bookshelf in Denver, and messaging first got it reserved before 3 other people even had a chance to comment.

Clicked on a free couch listing at 2am once and had it in my truck before the sun came up. The trick is to not even type a full message just say "on my way" and send your location. People who write paragraphs asking questions usually lose out to the quick responders every time.

Yeah, the "on my way" thing works for everything, not just free stuff. People overthink way too much in life, but the ones who just move fast are the ones who actually get things.
