Vent: A bride in Portland told me my bouquet design was 'too safe' and it really stuck with me.
She was planning a wedding with a very bold color scheme and wanted a bouquet full of deep burgundy dahlias and black scabiosa, but I kept trying to soften it with cream roses. She looked me right in the eye and said, 'I hired you for your skill, not your fear.' It happened right in my shop last fall. Has anyone else had a client push them past their own creative comfort zone?

Sounds like she did you a favor.

Man, can you imagine if we all just built the same boring beige houses? I'm with @the_nathan, that client gave you a creative shove you probably needed! Sometimes the best work comes from someone telling you to stop playing it safe and just go for the bold idea. I bet that dark, moody bouquet ended up looking incredible in the photos.
