Burned $60 on a show with 8 seasons that got canceled mid-story

Have you noticed how everything these days seems to get dropped before it's finished? It's like people have lost the patience to see things through, whether it's TV shows or even fixing a simple problem in your own house.

Appreciation post: hitting 50 Yashica repairs in one year

In my first six Electro 35s I had zero return trips, while my Nikormat jobs always seem to need a second look for shutter issues. @carter.hugo, the light seal goo actually wipes off way easier than the foam dust you get in old Nikons that gets everywhere. I'll take a sticky cleanout over chasing a stuck mirror any day of the week.

Pro tip: a heat gun turned my 2 year old paint scraper back into a razor

Hold up, I gotta disagree with this one. Warming up a scraper blade sounds like a quick fix but you're probably just melting the paint onto the blade instead of actually sharpening it. That soft gunk is gonna bake onto the metal and make it even harder to clean next time. Plus if you're not careful with that heat gun you could warp the blade or even mess up the temper of the steel. I've seen guys ruin good scrapers that way. Honestly just spend the few bucks on a new blade or a quick pass with a file. It's way more predictable and you're not playing with fire near old paint that might have lead in it.

I finally switched my pouring technique after 10 years of doing it wrong

I tried slow bottom pour once and got more dross, not less.

Rant: My hobby carving spoons from pruning scraps highlights how much good wood gets CHIPPED.

Thea's advice about raiding the discard pile is good but man, "ready to haul it out fast" really sums up the whole hobby doesn't it. I feel like I'm performing some kind of covert operation every time I spot a nice walnut branch in a chipper truck's path. Half the time I'm scrambling with my handsaw hoping nobody calls the cops on me for suspicious behavior around a wood chipper. It's like we're all just amateur wood ninjas dodging lawn crews and praying for that one guy who actually gets what we're trying to do.
