Matte white is the way to go... stops any glare from lamps or windows. Really makes the colors sing without being harsh.

Totally feel you on the matte white making the colors sing! I switched to a flat white in my living room last year and man, it was a game changer. My dumb art prints I bought on a whim suddenly looked expensive lol. It's like the walls finally shut up and let the cool stuff in the room do all the talking.
