Watch out for that weird glue on old vinyl plank jobs
Honestly, I pulled up some 15 year old laminate last week and the subfloor had this black, tar-like adhesive that was still sticky. Ngl, I thought a scraper and some solvent would take care of it in maybe two hours. I tried three different strippers and a floor grinder, and the stuff just gummed up everything. The whole prep ended up taking a full day and a half. Has anyone else found a good way to deal with that old mastic without losing your mind?

Wait, you used dry ice on a floor?

Man, that black tar mastic is the stuff of nightmares, I swear. I spent a whole Saturday on my knees with a heat gun and a putty knife once, and I'm pretty sure I still have some stuck to my soul. The only thing that sort of worked for me was freezing it with dry ice to make it brittle, but then you just end up with a million little black chips everywhere. It's a lose-lose situation, honestly.
