Picked the old wooden spoon over a fancy silicone one and it actually worked better
I was making chili last Tuesday and needed to stir a heavy pot of beef and beans. Had a brand new silicone spatula from Target but grabbed my grandma's beat up wooden spoon instead. The wood just felt right in my hand and didn't slip around like the silicone does. Came out great and I didn't have to worry about melting anything. Anyone else find that the simpler tool wins out over the modern one?

Switched out my silicone spatula mid-cook for the same reason last week.

I used to think silicone was totally fine no matter what. But then I watched it start smoking on a hot pan and that changed my mind real fast. Switched to wood for high heat stuff now. It's not worth risking a ruined meal or worse, a kitchen fire. Learn from my mistake.
