Tried setting posts with crushed limestone instead of concrete on a job in Ohio this spring

After three heavy rains the posts are still rock solid and I didn't have to wait for concrete to cure. Has anyone else given up on concrete for certain jobs?

Wait how many times did you have to go back and tamp 'em down again after that first big rain? I tried crushed limestone on a deck project last year and wound up restraightening three posts every morning for a week like I was living in some kind of bad construction groundhog day. The first rain just turned everything into soup and I had to fight the whole thing like a stubborn wet noodle. Honestly I think I'd rather just wait for concrete to cure and feel stupid drinking coffee instead of feeling stupid digging holes all over again.

Did you try mixing in some sand to keep it from turning to soup?
