Noticed a huge difference in hoof angle after switching to aluminum shoes
Been using steel shoes on this one thoroughbred for about 7 months, angles were always off around 4-5 degrees. Finally tried aluminum shoes on him 2 weeks ago and the difference is wild, his hooves are sitting way more natural now. Anyone else seen this kind of change with material swaps?

Jumped into aluminum shoes myself years back and thought I'd found a miracle cure. Turns out my horse was just having a nervous breakdown from the noise change - every step sounded like a dinner bell to him. He started spooking at his own feet. I switched back to steel after two weeks and he finally stopped looking at his hooves like they were haunted.

Ha, that's brutal! Horses are such drama queens sometimes, aren't they? I once put sport boots on my mare and she forgot how to trot properly, just stared at her legs like they were alien appendages. I guess it's easy to forget how sensitive they are to every little change. Your story is way funnier though - imagining a horse jumping at his own footsteps is gold.
