Hit 500 uses on my cheap shop vac filter before replacing it

I've been running the same basic filter on my Ridgid shop vac for about 18 months now. Mostly just cleaning up drywall dust and sawdust from weekend projects. I just tap it out against the trash can every few uses instead of buying new ones. Finally got clogged for real this weekend after I tracked the number and realized it was around 500 uses. Anyone else stretch their vacuum filters way past the recommended swap interval?

Did you ever have one that got wet and turned into a brick though? That'll kill a cheap filter fast.

Ha, that's awesome! I totally do the same thing with my shop vac filter. I just bang it against the driveway every few cleanups and it keeps going. Those filters are way overpriced for what they are, so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth by stretching them out. Honestly, as long as it still pulls air, I don't see the point in swapping it out early.
