I finally saw the stat that 80% of house fires from electrical issues are caused by old aluminum wiring, not new installs

Found that on a NFPA report last night, and it made me wonder if we should be pushing harder for full rewires on 60s and 70s homes instead of just patching them, what do you all think about taking that fight to homeowners?

Funny you mention that, it's the same story with old cast iron plumbing and single-pane windows. People will spend thousands on a fancy kitchen remodel but balk at fixing the hidden stuff that actually matters. It's like we're conditioned to prioritize what we see over what keeps the house standing. A full rewire is a hard sell because nobody wants to live with holes in their walls for a month, even if it means their place won't burn down.

Oh man that reminds me of my aunt who spent like 8 grand on a backsplash and then complained about her 50 year old water heater making weird noises. She'd rather have pretty tiles than hot water I guess lol.
