Took me 5 years to realize I was overdriving my screws on every job
Was watching this old timer on a commercial site in Chicago and noticed he barely touched his gun. Turned out I was sinking them way past the paper. Has anyone else caught a bad habit from just not watching how the pros do it?

Lol "sinking them way past the paper" hits too close to home man. I spent like two years putting everything in too deep before a buddy finally pointed out my drywall looked like a golf ball. Now I just let the gun do the work and it's way cleaner.

Funny how nobody ever talks about the trim nails. Everyone focuses on drywall screws but I've seen guys put 16 gauge finish nails so deep in baseboard the head practically punched through the other side. Then they wonder why the wood splits or the nail pops back out six months later when the house settles. Same concept applies though, stop fighting the tool and just let it sit flush.
