Appreciation post: My first solo archway came out way better than expected
In my experience, curved drywall always gave me trouble, so I was nervous about this arch in a remodel. Last Thursday, I had to frame and board it by myself with no lead on site. I used a trick an old timer showed me for wetting the back of the board slightly before bending, and it worked like a charm. Your mileage may vary, but for this one, the seams lined up almost perfectly on the first try. Take this with a grain of salt, but spending that extra time on the layout really paid off. Now, looking at it painted, I feel a real sense of accomplishment. Just wanted to share this small win with folks who get it.

Nice one! I tried that wetting trick on a curved bulkhead last year and it was a total game changer. That proud feeling when the paint goes on is the best part of the job.

My buddy had the same worry on his kitchen remodel last fall. He tried that wetting trick you mentioned and couldn't believe how clean his arch turned out. Said it made the whole job feel less daunting.
