Spent $150 on a cheap digital caliper and it fell apart after two jobs

The plastic gear stripped out measuring a 3/8" steel plate - has anyone found a reliable budget brand that actually holds up to daily use?

Man, iGaging is the sweet spot for cheap ones that actually last.

Dropped my $30 Mitutoyo clone off a ladder and it still reads perfect, funny how that goes.
