Used to freehand all my cuts, now I use a track saw religiously
For years I just clamped a straight board to my plywood and ran the circular saw along it. Worked fine until last summer when I messed up a $120 sheet of Baltic birch for a cabinet project. Bought a cheap track saw from Amazon for $150 and honestly it's night and day. Has anyone else found one tool that completely changed how they approach a basic task?

Idk man, I still just use a straightedge and a clamp. Never messed up a sheet bad enough to make me drop cash on a track saw. Maybe it's just me but that setup time and extra tool in the shop seems like overkill when a board and a circular saw gets the job done fine.

Have you tried one of those track saws with the replaceable splinter guard strip? That's what sold me on mine. I used to spend way too much time setting up a clamped guide and still get tearout on the clean side. Now I just line up the track and cut, no second guessing myself on the measurement either.
