Unpopular opinion: Our shop's apprentice fixed a fender with duct tape and said it was just for now. That was half a year ago.

Bought a cheap tape measure ten years ago and it's still going strong, no joke.

Found my people at a con panel on dubbing last Saturday

Oh man, did that panel have a bit about "it's more than just honorifics" in dubbing? I had the exact same lightbulb moment last year at a smaller con. This one voice actor spent like 20 minutes explaining why they changed a character's joke about rice balls to pizza, and I was ready to be mad until she showed how the original pun literally couldn't work in English. She went through like five different versions they tried before landing on pizza, and honestly it made me realize I've been way too harsh on localizers. Now I actually catch myself appreciating when a sub line is clearly a clever workaround instead of just grumbling about it.

My box build convinced me hand cut dovetails are better

Man, I gotta ask @claire999 - when you talk about that "perfect fit" feeling, is it more about how the joint looks or how it feels when you're sliding it together? Cause I've noticed some hand cut joints need a little persuasion with a mallet while others just glide right in. Which one gives you that solid satisfaction you're talking about?

Found out canned chicken at Dollar Tree has almost no water weight

I actually kind of disagree on the protein per ounce thing. I've drained both side by side before and Dollar Tree's chicken came out to like 13g protein per serving after draining, same as the name brand stuff I checked at home. Maybe it's just me but I actually prefer the more shredded texture for things like chicken salad or casseroles since it blends in easier. All that extra liquid in name brand cans feels like I'm paying for broth I'm just going to pour down the sink anyway.

That time a shop mechanic told me my chain was too tight and I thought he was wrong

Ngl I used to run my 1x chain exactly like you described, practically guitar string tight, until I trashed a rear hub on my gravel bike. You want about a half inch to an inch of play at the midpoint between your chainring and cassette. I measure it by pushing up from the bottom run of the chain, if it moves freely without binding you're good. I've been running about 3/4 inch of slack on my Sram setup for two years now and never dropped a chain even on bumpy singletrack. Easiest way to check is just spin the cranks backwards and watch for tight spots, if it goes through the whole rotation smooth you're set.
