inSpent $450 on a magnetic drill press for a boiler tube job last fall.
Yeah, @kai_lee35, that's just how it goes with tools. It's the same with kitchen knives or boots, you know? Buy the cheap version first, it breaks fast, and then you end up buying the good one anyway. So you basically paid for two things instead of one.

What if the power goes out at night though?

inUnpopular opinion: I stopped trusting the 'no signal' screen on monitors about a year ago
I spent three hours last week trying to fix a monitor before I even thought to check the HDMI cable. Felt like a real genius when the new one from the drawer worked instantly. My troubleshooting process is basically just replacing every single wire until something clicks. It's a proud tradition of overcomplicating the simple fix.

inMy neighbor told me to freeze cookie dough before baking and it actually worked
Man, I feel this so hard. My cookies used to turn into sad, flat puddles every single time. I wasted so much butter before I learned the freezer trick. It's like the dough needs that shock of cold to remember what shape it's supposed to be. I do it now with oatmeal raisin too and they come out perfect every time. That neighbor gave you some solid gold advice.

inSpent $400 on a new glass scoring tool and it just sits in my truck
Totally feel that, it's like they change stuff just for the sake of it sometimes. Your truck rule is solid, why waste time on something that just slows you down? New tools should make the job easier, not give you a headache. Honestly, some of the old methods just work better and that's all there is to it.
