Last Tuesday was my best crack repair day in months

I was working on this old driveway in Brookline that had this giant 8 foot crack running from the garage pad all the way down. The weather was perfect, like 72 degrees and dry, so I got the whole thing cleaned out with my angle grinder in about 20 minutes. Poured in two bags of the Quikrete vinyl patch and it actually set up smooth without any of that crumbling mess. Has anyone else hit a day where the temperature and humidity just line up perfect for blacktop work?

Used to be the kind of guy who just threw cold patch in there and called it a day, but that's a good way to waste money. Last Tuesday was the first time I actually paid attention to the forecast and the results were way better than anything I'd done before. That Quikrete mix is solid but you're right @daniel_martinez92, it needs the weather to cooperate. I just let the self leveler do its thing and ran a squeegee over it once to knock down the high spots. Still took a solid 12 hours to fully kick over, but no crumbling or tire tracks in the morning. Makes me wonder how much work I've screwed up in the past by just guessing on the weather.

Hell yeah, I used to just dump in cold patch and hope for the best but man, getting that temp and humidity dialed in makes all the difference. Did you use a feathering tool or just let the self leveling do its thing?
