Used to think cheap cables were fine until my shift cable snapped going down a hill in Denver 3 years ago.

Did you ever check if the cable was bundled tight with zip ties? I've seen that cause more snapped cables than cheap parts.

Denver hills are no joke, I had a cheap housing cable snap on me at 25th and Federal once. Zip ties definitely make it worse, they create a sharp bend that forces the cable to fail right there. Glad you made it down safe, man.
