Talked to a guy in Chiang Mai who's been doing this for 15 years

He said he stopped chasing cheap flights and perfect weather years ago. Now he picks one country and stays for 6 months to get a tax ID and open a local bank account. He told me, 'Stability is the real luxury, not another beach.' I've been hopping every month and my income is all over the place. Has anyone else slowed down and seen their work get better?

My best work came from three months in Lisbon, not settling down.

That's a really interesting point about stability. Read a blog post once from a writer who said the same thing, that his work got way better after he stopped moving every few weeks. He talked about how just knowing where the grocery store was freed up mental space for actual projects. The constant hunt for the next flight or apartment was eating into his work time without him even noticing. It makes total sense that having a local bank account and normal routines would cut down on background stress. Maybe the luxury isn't about the place itself, but about having your basic life stuff sorted so you can focus.
