Rant: I chose a password manager over writing them down in a notebook
My bank account got locked after I forgot a password I wrote on a sticky note. I picked Bitwarden and now I just remember one master password. Anyone have a better free option?

Glad that worked for you, but honestly I still keep a paper notebook in a safe spot. I just don't trust putting all my passwords in one digital place, even with a master password. What if the app has a problem or gets hacked? My notebook can't get a virus. It takes more time to update, sure, but it gives me real peace of mind. Different strokes, I guess.

My friend's basement flooded last year and her password notebook got soaked. She lost like 40 logins and it was a huge mess to fix.

My old paper system was a sticky note on my laptop that just said "password123" for everything... I'm not proud of it. I switched to a password manager after my cat knocked a glass of water onto that sticky note and I lost my whole digital life. I get the fear of putting everything in one app, but my own memory and paper methods were way more of a security risk. Now I just have to remember one good password and hope my cat doesn't learn how to type.
