Pro tip: Stop using the same password for every site like I did for 10 years
I finally got hit by a credential stuffing attack last month after my email and password leaked from a forum I used in 2018. Some hacker got into my PayPal and tried to buy $300 worth of gift cards. It took me 3 hours on a Saturday resetting accounts and calling the bank. Now I use a password manager with unique 16-character passwords everywhere. Has anyone else had to deal with cleaning up a mess like this after putting off better habits?

Why didn't you just use a password manager years ago like I told everybody?

Same thing happened to me except they got into my Steam account and bought games for some random account. The password manager route is the way to go. Bitwarden is free and works fine for me. Also turn on two factor authentication everywhere especially email and banking. Took me a whole weekend to lock everything down after my mess but at least now I sleep better at night.
