Just realized I'm the only guy on my crew who still uses a full 3-point tagline setup on a tower crane

Everyone else went to a single line years ago, but I saw a load spin into a column in Chicago in '19 and I won't risk it. Am I just being stubborn about this?

What makes you think your three point setup is actually safer? Single lines have been the standard for years because they work fine with modern rigging and proper operator skill. That Chicago accident sounds like a training issue, not a gear problem. You might be adding complexity where it isn't needed and slowing your whole crew down for a fear that's out of date.

Hold on, you say single lines work fine with proper skill. But what's your plan for when a new guy has a bad day or the wind picks up? My extra lines are for when "fine" isn't good enough.
