Noticed a big shift in how my local grocery store stocks eggs over the last 6 months

I've been buying eggs at the same Kroger in Cleveland for years, and back in March they always had a full aisle of cheap store brand eggs for $2.50 a dozen. Now the shelves are half empty and the same eggs are $5.99, but I can still find fancy pasture raised ones from some boutique farm for $8 without issue. Is this supply chain stuff actually real or are they just pushing us toward pricier options on purpose? Has anyone else seen this specific pattern at their stores?
