I thought those fancy magnesium floats were just a gimmick until I had to finish a 40 yard slab in 90 degree heat last July.

Yeah my buddy laughed at me for buying one, called it a waste of money. Then he had to help his uncle pour a long driveway walkway on a brutal day. He said the regular float just stuck to the concrete and felt like it weighed a hundred pounds. He borrowed mine the next weekend and shut up real quick lol. That thing just glides when it's hot, makes a huge difference.

Oh man, that's the truth. A regular steel float will just drag and grab once that concrete starts to set up fast in the heat. The magnesium ones are so much lighter, they don't stick. It's the difference between finishing the job and leaving a rough mess. I keep one in the truck from May through September, no question.
