Kirby Morgan vs Ocean Reef full face masks - no contest really

I ran an Ocean Reef for 2 years on a pipeline job in the Gulf and swapped comms modules three times. Finally grabbed a used KM-48 for $900 and it hasn't even hiccupped in 18 months. Anyone else find the cheaper masks just don't hold up to daily abuse?

Heard a KM rep say those cheaper regs just aren't built for cold water either.

You ever seen a Scubapro MK2 freeze up? My buddy took one of those entry level setups to the Great Lakes in November. Froze solid on a 50 foot dive, wouldn't stop free flowing. He had to call the dive and spent 20 minutes on the surface fighting with his regs. Total nightmare.
