Went to a third wave coffee shop in Portland and changed my mind about light roasts
I always thought light roast coffee was just sour and weak, but I visited Heart Coffee on E Burnside last week and tried their Ethiopian pour-over. The barista explained how the fruity notes come from the roast level preserving the bean's origin flavors, and I actually tasted blueberry and jasmine. Has anyone else had a specific coffee shop experience that totally flipped their preference on roast levels?

You are not alone in this. I had the exact same thing happen to me at a little place in Seattle called Slate Coffee. I always thought I was a dark roast person, dark and bold and that's it. But they served me a Kenyan light roast that tasted exactly like blackberry jam and I was completely thrown off. It opened up a whole new world of coffee for me and now I buy light roasts from different roasters all the time to see what flavors I can find.
