Warning: I used a cheap blade grinder for years and just switched to a burr grinder... the difference is night and day.
I finally got a Baratza Encore after my old $30 blade grinder died last month. The first cup I made with the new grinder was from the same beans I'd been using, but it tasted totally different... way more flavor and no bitter bite. The blade grinder just smashes the beans into uneven bits, so you get a mix of dust and chunks that brews all wrong. The burr grinder gives you a consistent size, which is the most important thing for a good cup. Has anyone else made this switch and been shocked by how much better their morning coffee got?

My old Krups blade grinder made me think fresh ground was enough.

Oh man, I totally get that feeling. My first blade grinder was a game changer from pre-ground, no doubt. But switching to a decent burr grinder was like a second, bigger wake up call. The difference in how even the grounds look is huge, and my coffee got way less bitter overnight. It's a whole other level of fresh.
