Serious question, does anyone actually enjoy the whole 'dialing in' ritual?

I spent 45 minutes yesterday trying to get my new grinder to produce a decent shot, and it just felt like a huge waste of good beans. Everyone acts like this is the fun part, but I just want a consistent cup. Am I the only one who finds this process more frustrating than rewarding?

Totally get where you're coming from. I used to love the whole dialing in chase, thought it was part of the hobby. Then I had a week where every morning was a stressful mess before work. Wasting beans just started to feel stupid, not fun. Now I keep a log for each bean and just aim for "good enough" most days. The ritual is only fun if you have endless time and money, lol.

I actually enjoy the dialing in process, even on busy mornings. For me, the two extra minutes to tweak the grind makes the whole cup worth it.
