Had to pick between a flat burr and a conical grinder for my home setup
I spent like 3 weeks going back and forth on this. Ended up going with a flat burr for my espresso because I read it gives cleaner clarity in the cup. Honestly at first I thought I made a mistake, the shots tasted thin and kind of hollow compared to what I was used to. But after dialing in for about 12 shots over 4 days, I started getting these bright fruit flavors I never got from my old conical. My buddy runs a coffee shop in Denver and he warned me it takes time to adjust, he was right. Has anyone else switched and felt like they lost something at first?

Oh man, that hollow thin taste is exactly what I ran into. Tbh I thought I wasted my money for a solid week. What kind of beans were you using when you first switched? Because I found light roasts made the adjustment way harder than medium or dark ones, the flat burr just stripped out all the body and left this weird sharp acidity until I changed my dose and grind way finer than I thought necessary.
