Bought a $30 hand grinder from Amazon and got dust instead of coffee grounds

Picked up a cheap ceramic burr grinder last month to save money and ended up with more fine powder than actual grounds in my French press. The grind was so inconsistent I had sludge at the bottom and watery coffee on top. Has anyone else had luck with budget hand grinders or is it worth saving up for a decent one?

Paid $40 for one once and might as well have thrown my money in a blender.

Ngl that $30 grinder taught me cheap tools just cost you more time and frustration in the end.
