Guy I subbed for told me my chamfer was all wrong - turns out he was right

I was running a job on a Haas mill and had this old timer watching over my shoulder (he was the one who trained the lead before me). He pointed out that my chamfer tool was cutting way too fast and said 'you're burning the edge, not cutting it, slow down to 40% feed.' Cut my tool replacement cost by about $60 a month, anyone else have someone just walk up and fix a bad habit overnight?

Old timer told me I was choking up on my bandsaw blade, saved me from binding up a $200 cut.
