That solar panel install I thought would take a weekend took 4 months
Back in March I bought a 400 watt kit for my back porch thinking I'd have it up in two days. Turns out my roof angle was all wrong for the mounts and I had to get custom brackets made at a local metal shop. Then the permit office in my county required a structural review that took 6 weeks. Has anyone else run into surprise permitting delays for small residential solar?

Man, that's rough. A structural review for a 400 watt porch setup? I bet the inspector showed up in a hard hat and a clipboard like he was inspecting a skyscraper. At that point you might as well have installed a whole damn solar farm just to get your money's worth out of the permit fees.
