Dropped $350 on a used EV and it's been a rollercoaster

I bought a 2015 Nissan Leaf with 60k miles for $3500 from a guy in Portland. The battery has held up surprisingly well, but the cold weather range is brutal - I get maybe 40 miles on a freezing morning. Anyone else try a budget EV and feel like you're always playing the range guessing game?

40 miles is basically an e-bike with a roof.
