Overheard a guy at the supply house in Boise say he never uses a camera for inspections, just a mirror on a stick. That seems reckless to me.

He was buying brushes and said, 'If you know what you're looking for, a mirror is all you need. Saves 15 minutes a job.' I've been using a Rotobrush camera for five years and catch hairline cracks and missing mortar that a mirror would miss every single week. How can you properly quote a repair or guarantee your work if you don't see the whole picture? Am I wasting my time with the tech?

Remember my last mirror inspection? I quoted a simple repoint and found a full brick spall with the camera. Tech isn't a waste, it's how you avoid nasty surprises.

Honestly, that's the kind of surprise that makes you want to just walk away from the whole job. Tbh, I can picture the client's face when you tell them the simple fix just got a whole lot less simple. Good thing you had the camera, or you'd be eating that repair cost yourself. Ngl, some people still think checking things the old way is fine, but this is exactly why it's not.
