TIL a different way to handle seams on stairs

For years I'd just butt the pieces together and hope for the best, which often left a visible line after a few months. Then I saw a guy on a job in Denver use a heat-activated seam tape and a proper iron, not just a household one. He explained that the controlled heat bonds the fibers at the molecular level, making it way more durable. Anyone have a favorite brand of seam iron they actually trust?

Controlled heat bonds the fibers" sounds like a game changer.
