That $600 power stretcher rental in Portland was a total scam
I rented a power stretcher from a big box store last month for a 2,000 square foot house and the thing kept slipping every 10 feet. They charged me $85 a day and I needed it for 7 days because I had to keep redoing the same rows. Turns out their calibration was off and the rental guy admitted they never check them after a busy season. Has anyone else dealt with crooked rental equipment or am I just cursed with bad luck in this town?

Ditch the store and check local tool libraries or indie hardware shops next time. Those big box places rotate stock so fast their rental gear gets beat to hell and nobody bothers with upkeep. A buddy of mine runs a flooring crew and says he only rents from a mom and pop place across the river because they actually torque the rollers before every pickup. Also worth asking for the last maintenance date on the log sheet, if they cant show one, walk.
