Hit 100 yards of carpet in one day for the first time and it changed my mind about power stretchers
I always thought a knee kicker was good enough for residential work, but last Thursday I had a 100-yard living room job in a new subdivision outside Phoenix. The homeowner wanted seamless seams across three rooms, and I knew my knee would give out after the first 30 yards. I finally borrowed my buddy's power stretcher and finished by 3 PM instead of 7 PM. That number made me realize I was losing hours and hurting my body for no good reason. Do you guys use power stretchers for every job over 50 yards or just for big commercial stuff?

Buddy of mine swore by knee kickers for years till his knee gave out mid-job and he couldn't walk for a week. He switched to a power stretcher after that.

People act like kneekickers are some kind of time bomb waiting to destroy your knees. That buddy of yours probably had bad form or was overworking himself. A power stretcher has its own set of problems too. They are heavy, take forever to set up, and you can't use them in tight spaces or closets. Kneekickers let you work fast and get the carpet locked in without dragging a machine around. If your knees hurt using one, you are doing it wrong or need to invest in better padding.
