Old timer at the lumberyard told me to stop using glue on my dados and it messed with my head
He said wiping a little wax on the joint makes everything come apart cleaner if you mess up, which I never even thought about. Has anyone else gotten advice that sounded backwards but actually worked?

Yeah I saw this guy on youtube who said to rub a candle on your saw fence before ripping long boards. Tried it on some sticky cedar and it actually slid through way easier than I expected.

An old carpenter told me once to put a little dish soap on my circular saw blade before cutting pressure treated lumber. Felt wrong as hell but the blade didn't gum up at all and cut like butter for way longer.
