Question about those 'networking is everything' people

I always thought it was just talk, but after landing a project lead role in Denver because a guy I met once remembered my work, I get it now. Has anyone else had a random connection pay off like that?

No way lol. That's how it always works though. The small stuff you do without thinking ends up mattering the most. Like holding a door for someone and they turn out to be your new neighbor, or giving someone a charger and they later recommend you for a gig. Just doing a decent thing opens doors you never see coming.
