Customer's ladder blew apart mid-install and I'm still laughing
So Tuesday I'm up a step ladder hanging an upper cabinet in a kitchen remodel over in Maplewood, right. The ladder is one of those old fiberglass ones the homeowner left out, and I figured it was fine since I was only three steps up. Then one of the side rails just cracked like a celery stick and I went down sideways with the cabinet still in my hands. The cabinet landed on the floor, thankfully empty, and I landed on a pile of drop cloths so no real damage to me. The homeowner heard the racket and came in asking if I was okay while I was just laying there staring at the ceiling. Turns out that ladder had a hairline crack hidden under the paint from some previous job, and now I only trust my own aluminum one from now on. Has anyone else had a ladder fail on them in a weird way, or am I the only one who got lucky with the soft landing?
