The $60 pen debate: did it actually improve my journaling or was it a scam?

I dropped $60 on a fancy fountain pen because everyone said it'd make bullet journaling smoother and more enjoyable. First week was great, the ink flowed nice, and my handwriting looked almost artistic. But by week three I was back to using a plain old $2 gel pen because the fountain pen kept drying out when I didn't use it for two days. Now I'm wondering if investing in gear actually makes a difference or if it's just hype. Anyone else had a pricey tool that looked good but didn't stick?

A $30 TWSBI Eco fixed the drying issue for me, night and day.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one a little. In my experience, a TWSBI Eco didn't really fix drying issues for me, it just swapped one set of problems for another. Those pens dry out just as fast if you don't use them for a few days, and then you're dealing with a fussy piston mechanism and potential cracking. Plus, for thirty bucks, you're still stuck with a plastic pen that feels cheap compared to a metal-bodied Jinhao or a Pilot Metropolitan. Your mileage may vary, but I've had way better luck with a simple, well-sealed cap on a standard converter pen than with any "solution" that costs thirty dollars.
